There are many reasons to attach patches to clothes. For instance, little fellows think it is so cool to have a patch on their clothes. Another reason maybe there is a hole in your dress, and a patch is your ideal savior now. You may use store-bought patches or make your own embroidery patches to cover up the holes in dresses.
Hand sewn patches
This is a traditional patching method followed by housewives for years. Take a piece of fabric and cut it into a shape to fix the hole in your garment, which you are planning to fix. Then place it under the dress and attach using sewing pins and sew.
Iron on patches
These patches can be simply attached by applying heat. The sticky back of these patches will be activated when the heat is applied. Cut the desired pattern and place it on the dress where it needs to be pressed. Set the iron temperature and follow the instructions given.
Applique patch
These types of fabric patches are applied on the face (front side) of the garment with a hand-sewn blanket stitch or zig-zag stitches with a sewing machine.
Special patch
You may use a piece of cloth of your choice with your design to cover the patches. This is why it is called a special patch.
